Hey guys and gals!
I know that I sent you all a packing list a while back, but here are a few more things that you will need to know about Peru and how to pack for that.
1. Peru has bugs.
It would be very good for you to be sure that you have some sort of bug spray and after bite cream or spray. The very light weight long pants and shirt will help prevent bugs from biting you.
2. Peru is wet and hot.
It would be good for you to have a small personal first aid kit. Band-aids, Neosporin, baby powder, and personal hygiene items will not be so easy to access once in the Jungle. ย
3. Peru has strange food.
We recommend that you bring some snack type things with you. DO NOT GO OVERBOARD with this. You will be fed, and you will be taken care of. There may be somedays when you need more thought. If you want bring a few Power Bar type snacks. I would also recommend bringing one small PLASTIC jar of peanut butter. It will help supplement protein. ย
4. Peru Has LOTS of kids.
We would love it if you all as a team would bring a few items for the kiddos! Think small, inexpensive things you that will not take up too much room in your pack. Balloons are a great example of what we mean.
5. The Amazon River that you are traveling up and down will not be the best place for a computer. I know that some of you are wanting to bring them, and ultimately that is up to you. BUT, I would think long and hard before just throwing your computer in your bag. You will be on a river, on a boat, sleeping on the floor in churches, "houses", and some hostels. Please call me if you have any questions about this.
Ok, I think that is all for now, please remember that you will need the items on the other packing lists as well. An outlet converter is really the only thing a few of you will need, not all of you need to bring one. You can share :)
You will need:
A Hiking backpack.
Headlamp
Sleeping bag
Sleeping pad (Therma Rest type)
At least one pair of long pants and one long sleeved tee-shirt
Let me know if you have ANY questions at all,
