I guess I am a little further behind on this whole blogging thing than I thought! Sorry! But I should probably introduce myself. My name is Lakin Turner. I am 19 and a sophomore at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. I am a Public Relations major and a Spanish minor. I am slowly getting better at my spanish, but it is always a work in progress!

To start things off, I'll tell you all a little bit about myself. My small town fits the country stereotype to the T. We have a church on every single corner, and a bar in between each one. People wear boots everywhere, literally-to work, to church, to school-you name it.  Our accents are just as thick as our friendships, and clans of families own half the state. My family fits right along in it. The only ethnicity that we have is Cherokee Native American.I am the baby of the family with one older sister. My parents have been divorced for about 5 years now, but my relationship with both of my parents is incredible. My life growing up, was anything but average. I'll save most of the details for when I finally get to meet you all, but let me just say, God is incredible!

I believe that I could sit outside all day in my rocking chair. I love being outside, hiking, hunting, fishing, walking-anything! I love being surrounded by God's creations! I will say that I am not the most talented person when it comes to sports-i suck, plain and simple. But I am mighty skilled when it comes to shooting a rifle. I work with a 13 year old boy who is autistic and he is the love of my life! You all will hear all about him this summer-he is seriously an angel! I have been working with him for about a year and a half now and he is doing wonderful! Another random fact about me is that my best friend is deaf, so i am fluent in sign language.

I was pretty much born on the alter, i have been in church as long as I can remember. I grew up singing the songs, going to church camps, and youth retreats. I accepted Christ as my Savior at 8, but it wasn't until I was about 16 that I fully understood what being a Christian was all about. I grew up in a small baptist church that had a total of 50 people on Easter sunday. When I was a teenager and could drive myself to church, I started going to the one I am at currently where the whole focus of the church is missions. God opened doors for me and I went to Honduras when I was 16. The day I stepped foot on that dirt runway was the day my life changed. I was introduced to international missions, and my heart delighted in it! After I graduated high school I spent 2 months in Bali, Indonesia working alongside the indonesians for the glory of God. Although we only had one person who converted to christianity, PRAISE THE LORD FOR THAT MAN! The whole two months was so worth it for the salvation of that single man. The Lord has blessed me with a heart for missions, and last year the door was opened for me to go on the Ambassador trip to Peru. Although I was 18 going on 19, clearly the oldest one on the team, it was the only trip I could go on (I had to be back in time to be a counselor at a church camp) I'm  not kidding guys, you will LOVE peru! Last year we stayed in Nauta and I met the people there and just fell in love with them! Seriously the sweetest people in the whole world! God had placed Peru on my heart after I left that I could not do anything else but sign up for Real Life! I have been in constant communication with "my brothers" down there, and they are just incredible! I cannot wait to see what God has done in the past year down there! I plan on working for a missions organization, or Lord willing, be an international missionary. It is something I am constanly seeking God for his guidence!

I am so sorry I have rambled for so long! I can't wait to get to know each of you! If you all wanna find me on facebook my name on there is Lakin McKay Turner. Just shoot me a message first that way I kinda know who you are =P

John Piper said it best, "Go.Send. or Disobey."
