Thank you to everyone who commented on last week's post, "What do you know about Peru." We found out some very interesting things about Peru:
- The Amazon River of South America is the world's largest river and the lifeblood of the world's largest ecosystem, spanning two-fifths of an entire continent. It is the mightiest river in the world by volume, with six times greater total river flow than the next six largest rivers combined, and the most extensive drainage basin in the world. Because of its vast dimensions it is sometimes called The River Sea.
- The main ethnic groups in Peru include Amerindian, Mestizo, Whites, Blacks, Japanese and Chinese.
- Peru was the last Spanish colony in South America to gain independence.
- The people of Peru are what's known in anthropology as a "hot climate culture." Meaning that they are hospitable friendly, relationship based culture.
These are solid facts about the country you are going to.

Now, let's devulge a little deeper into your country. What I would like to ask is what problems does Peru face? Are there factors that make everyday living very difficult? Are they environmental? Political? Ethnic and Social? Religious?
Let's see what we can find and report our findings back here. If you are stuck, try a news site. They are usually great for country information as well as the most up-to-date issues affecting where you are going.
